Ballo was founded in Cape Town, South Africa at the beginning of 2013. Since then Ballo has been focused on producing high quality, locally manufactured products with an environmentally conscious approach to design.
The first Ballo range, the eyewood sunglasses, are all handmade in Woodstock, Cape Town, using wooden offcuts from local furniture producers. So far we have three different woods that we work with. Each frame is strengthened with two layers of a robust recycled paper material. Every pair is polarized and can be fitted with prescription lenses.
The eyewood family currently consists of 11 handsome styles, and three different shades of wood. Recently we have been experimenting with colour on the frames.
One of our newest editions to the range is the flat top B-Side, cutting straight across the brow with some old school attitude. It’s our modern take on a retro style. Available with the natural wooden hues, or with a two-tone colour finish, the B-Side is a champ.
Natural products, man-made.
